Alignment is a key CEO Topic. CEO’s understand the need to create alignment. Because it is only when people are aligned that individuals are inspired to collaborate; it is only when people are aligned that teams have the ability innovate; it is only when people are aligned that organisations have the right Culture to grow.
This is why alignment is one of the key topics on the minds of CEO’s around the world. Because it is needed to reach the ultimate goal of every CEO: Growth. Without alignment it is not possible to sustain any growth. For more on this see our article on Professional Keynote Speech Hot Topic: Business Growth.
Growth needs alignment.
The Potential of Corporate Events. Your Corporate Event holds great potential because it brings everyone, or many people, within your organisation together. The act of bringing people together in itself has great value however when it is used deliberately to align people towards a common vision it has great potential. See our article: What is the Real Purpose of a Keynote Speech?
This is why your Corporate Event can be at the centre of your organisations’ Growth. Every organisation needs to start with an alignment toward a common vision, and then it needs to be repeatedly reminded of this vision. Every Corporate Event is therefore an opportunity to realign people towards your vision. For more on this see our article: The Impact of a Keynote Speech.
Your Corporate Event realigns people towards a common vision.
Use your Corporate Event to create Alignment. Whatever the theme or topic of your Corporate Event is, you can use it realign your teams towards a common vision by understanding the three levels of alignment: Alignment of Individuals, Alignment of Influence, and Alignment of Impact.
1) Alignment of Individuals. The first step in using your Corporate Event to help your CEO solve the topic of Alignment starts with Individuals.1 This is the foundation of collaboration, cooperation, and what makes a ‘corporate’: a group of people working together as one ‘body’ to achieve something they can not achieve on their own.
1Alignment is needed within every organisation and it begins with Alignment in Individuals. This requires what I call Vertical Alignment and Horizontal Alignment. Vertical Alignment is when someone has belief in the work they are doing; they feel their work in meaningful to them personally. The keyword in Vertical Alignment is ‘meaningful’. There is a ‘vertical’ alignment between themselves and something higher that is meaningful. Horizontal Alignment is when someone feels meaning in the work they do and they connect this ‘horizontally’ across their teams and the organisation. The keyword in Horizontal Alignment is ‘measurable’. Horizontal Alignment of teams requires that we have Vertical Alignment first within individuals.
Any individual who feels aligned towards a vision that other people share, and that they work on daily side-by-side, has a feeling of meaningful work. CEO’s understand the importance of this because individuals who are aligned are more engaged in their work.
Use your Corporate Event to remind every individual of what the common vision is and how their daily work helps achieve this. Use your Corporate Event to remind them that their work is meaningful and measurable. For more information see: Why do I need a Keynote Speech at my corporate event?
Individuals who are aligned are more engaged in their work.
2) Alignment of Influence. Once we are aligned internally as a collection of Individuals, we next need to align externally towards who we are Influencing.2 So the second step in using your Corporate Event to help your CEO solve the topic of Alignment is about aligning people to your customers and clients.
2I deliberately use the term ‘influence’ because whatever we do, or say, influences people. All actions and communication influences people, whether we are conscious of it or not. Being aware of this brings to the surface our duty as an organisation to act and communicate in a responsible manner.
Alignment of Influence is about being customer-centred. Who are we serving and how are we serving them. Our day-to-day work must be clearly aligned with the value that we are creating for others.
Use your Corporate Event to remind people of who we are serving and how their daily work in your organisation creates value for your clients.
3) Alignment of Impact. Finally, when we are aligned internally as a collection of individuals and externally in how we influence our clients, we need to be aligned towards our Impact.3 So the third step in using your Corporate Event to help your CEO solve the topic of Alignment is about your world vision.
3It is interesting to note that collectively businesses have more influence on the world than governments. This is one of the reasons why much of my work is with corporations. This focus creates a great sense of possibility and responsibility to impact the world through our work; we can all ask ‘how can our work be a force for good?’
CEO's hot Topic: Alignment. Alignment of Impact is about connecting to something bigger than ourselves, bigger than our organisation. It is about the legacy we want to leave and the responsibility we have to do so. Because many CEO’s now realise: Good business is good for business. This is the shift from service towards contribution.
Use your Corporate Event to align your people as Individuals, the Influence they have, and the Impact they are contributing to.
Your Corporate Event is a strategic tool because you can use it to help your CEO solve the topic of Alignment. You start by aligning your people as Individuals, then aligning the Influence they have, and finally, by aligning the Impact, they are making. This is how your Corporate Event can be at the centre of your organisations’ Growth and how it can be used to solve any topic in the mind of your CEO, including Alignment.
